- Sustainability strategies and concept development
- Zero Emission Studio develops concepts for sustainable projects and helps architects and developers establish the right strategy to achieve their goals. This includes targets related to BREEAM, FutureBuilt or similar frameworks, as well as project-specific goals. As a follow-up, we develop quality and environmental programs and Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
- BREEAM AP
- Zero Emission Studio acts as advisor, coordinator and process manager for BREEAM work in projects. The BREEAM AP supports the project team and process, helps define goals, and follows up and documents solutions so that a BREEAM-NOR certification can be achieved after formal audit. We have several certified BREEAM APs among our staff.
- Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
- Zero Emission Studio develops concepts for sustainable projects and helps architects and developers establish the right strategy to achieve their goals. This includes targets related to BREEAM, FutureBuilt or similar frameworks, as well as project-specific goals. As a follow-up, we develop quality and environmental programs and Environmental Management Plan (EMP.
- Greenhouse gas calculations
- LCA / greenhouse gas calculations are methods used to assess the environmental impact of a building throughout its entire life cycle—from raw material extraction, production and transport to use and end-of-life. The environmental impact can be calculated for the entire or partial life cycle, for example from “cradle to (factory) gate” or “cradle to grave”. We use various tools and document results, for example in accordance with FutureBuilt Zero requirements.
- Funding and grants
- In recent years, Zero Emission Studio has secured substantial funding for projects we are involved in. This includes funding from Enova, Innovation Norway, the City of Oslo, the Norwegian Environment Agency and the Cultural Heritage Fund.
- Reuse
- Zero Emission Studio assists developers in mapping existing buildings with regard to the reuse potential of building elements. This includes documentation in relation to TEK, BREEAM and FutureBuilt requirements. In addition, we advise on design-for-reuse in new projects and investigate whether building elements from external buildings are suitable for reuse in the project. We have extensive experience using the Loopfront tool, as well as other supporting tools.
- Energy and indoor climate calculations
- In many projects, we perform energy and indoor climate simulations to advise designers and developers on choosing the right measures for low energy consumption and good indoor climate throughout the year. We have many years of experience with passive house design, plus-energy buildings and zero-emission buildings. We have experience with indoor climate calculations using both IDA ICE and SIMIEN.
- Material selection
- We advise architects and developers on sustainable material use, focusing equally on low CO₂ emissions and a healthy indoor climate. We have extensive experience working with many different mass timber suppliers both in Norway and internationally, and have also been involved in Norway’s first buildings using innovative low-carbon concrete and highly insulating aerogel plaster.
- Green transport
- We discuss general strategies and measures for sustainable mobility solutions in projects. The main objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector related to the use and operation of buildings. The primary focus is often a good balance between individual parking with facilitation for zero-emission vehicles, cycling and walking, and public transport. We also assist in identifying funding opportunities. For more detailed studies, we use our partner network.
